New national football team jerseys have dropped
Football fans from across the globe can now get behind their country’s national team with the official redesigned 2022 home and aways kits.
AUSTRALIA
The Aussie DNA shined through as they qualified with a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Peru. Like their brothers in 2005, the Aussie spirit never gives up until the final whistle. This ‘New Gen’ of Socceroos, Hrustic, Mabil and Kuol are here to create their Aloisi moment and inspire the next generation.
The home kit conjures the rugged, sandy landscape of the Outback and the rich wetlands and forests. The away kit is a homage to the Australian coastlines and teeming ocean. Outback meets the ocean as the Socceroos take on the world’s best.
ENGLAND
Is this the year the Three Lions bring the beautiful game back home? The redesigned English collection takes inspiration from the bold playing style of the English team, highlighting their stalwart spirit and collective energy through a range of retro design cues. The home kit combines the iconic Blue Void with youthful patterns and gradients, plus a distorted Three Lions graphic on the shoulders, layered with aggressive angles and lines to reflect claw marks. The away kit marks the return of the iconic all-over Challenge Red. It also features a reimagined collar - a signature of the English team - that reveals a knitted 3 Lions graphic when the collar is popped. Foden, Grealish, Tammy and Bellingham standby - is this the jersey you finally bring football home in?
DEUTSCHLAND
GERMANY (Die Mannschaft)
The Germany NT jersey is always a classic, and 2022 delivers yet another iconic design. The home jersey design sees a bold verti- cal stripe through the middle, a homage to the first ever German jersey. The heat-ap- plied crest down the middle and adidas logo brings a simple, clean aesthetic. Details on the collar and jersey showcase the German national flag and the away jersey is a cherry red/black design inspired by the national flag, with a graphic 'D' pattern throughout representing Deutschland. Gnabry, Sane and Müller will bring their A-game on the pitch, they never disappoint in major tournaments. Who knows…this new kit could become one of the best loved German jerseys of all time.
ARGENTINA
In 1986 Maradona famously sang “Argentina's going to be the champion!”
This Argentina home jersey is destined to be equally legendary. It wouldn't be a tournament without the famous blue and white stripes of Argentina, the corazón [heart] of the country. Passion, skill and desire are part of their jerseys' DNA.
This year, the famous middle stripe is featured front, back and inside the kit,
with the Sun of May emblazoned on the back of the neck.
The away jersey is reminiscent of the 1990 Argentina away kit. Inspired by a new dawn of football, adidas has included a beautiful purple hue combined with a fiery sun graphic - a nod to gender equality. Argentina jerseys have a rich past. Is this the jersey that will see Messi and the team create their own piece of history for the famous La Albiceleste?
BELGIUM
Belgium and adidas make a fiery, passionate statement with their home and away kits.
The home kit is inspired by the team’s nickname the Red Devils, with a fire graphic running up both sleeves.
Collaborating with the iconic music festival, Tomorrowland, Belgium's away kit displays striking, bold colours inspired by the festival over a clean white base. The design also features a bold 'LOVE' symbol on the inside, which is inspired by Tomorrowland's famous fireworks display.
The symbolism on the jersey stands for the mutual values of diversity, equality, and inclusivity that both Tomorrowland and Belgium stand for.
BRASIL
The 2022 Brazilian collection embodies vibrant audacity.
This attitude, a balance of national pride and youth culture, is highlighted by the unique onça-pintada knit patterns of the home kit and also the design on the away kit sleeves.
The onça-pintada (or jaguar) is a ubiquitous national symbol of spirit and grit that reflects the Brazilian team's style of play. The Dynamic Yellow, Green Spark and Paramount Blue from the national flag, are used in contrasting formats on both kits.
The kits also feature hidden symbols, like a discoverable Brazilian flag element on the home kit's front placket, and a "Garra Brasileira" (Brazilian Grit) treatment on the inner back of the shirt, a reference to the nation's spirit and resilience.
FRANCE
The new French jersey represents France Nouveau, or the New France - a fusion of the country's heritage and future. Since their partnership with Nike, the FFF jersey has been a trailblazer in creating a kit that looks just as comfortable on the pitch as off it. The home kit oak leaf and olive branch pattern represents strength, solidarity and peace. Classic French design cues include a tricolour insert on the short, a jacquard sock and cuff and gold detailing. The away kit graphic is inspired by French toile de Jouy, made up of iconic French
and Les Bleus imagery like the Cockerel, botanicals, the Arc de Triomphe and Clairefontaine.
M'bappe will lead his formidable team with legions of passionate fans. And the 2022 French jersey designs will almost certainly follow suit.
JAPAN
The formidable Samurai Blue jump into every tournament with a jersey that’s inspired by Japanese manga and origami. The home jersey design is youthful yet meticulous. Legend says, if you fold a thousand origami cranes, your wish will come true. You will find the crow from the JFA logo designed in a lenticular pattern evoking speed and agility - key elements that could turn the Japanese team’s greatest wish into reality on football's greatest stage. The speed of manga with the precision of origami could see Captain Tsubasa lead his team to greatness.
The Japan away jersey sees a fresh mix of colours for the team, reflecting the same spirit with a bright blue, with red adding an element of dynamism.
NETHERLANDS
The orange in the new Netherlands kit is an unapologetic nod to Dutch tradition. The design is based on the inclusive and worldly innovators of Dutch sport and culture.
A dancing swirl of Orange Peel and Laser Orange evokes the mane of a lion, the historic symbol of the Low Countries. It also represents the fluidity of the Total Football tactical system that the Dutch team are famous for. On the away kit, rich colours and textures continue to tell the storv of intertwined culture and football that constantly influence each other in the Netherlands.
PORTUGAL
This is CR7's final stand with the vibrant Portuguese squad.
Portugal's 2022 kits signal a new era on the horizon for futebol português.
On the home kit, Pepper Red and Gorge Green, with Gold Dart tipping nods to
the Portuguese flag while a diagonal line mimics the flag wrapped around the body. National pride is shown through the crest of the Federação Portuguesa de Futebol (FPF) and the esfera armilar, used as a patch on the back collar.
The away kit uses Sail White, an off-white tone, to ensure the Portuguese NT stands out in a sea of bright white kits. This bold yet classic jersey design will match the style of the enigmatic Portuguese team on the pitch.
SPAIN
Spain's team is commonly known by fans as "La Furia Roja", meaning the Red Fury in Spanish.
The new national home jersey is constructed from Spain's unique football DNA, dominated by the team's famous fiery red colours. It’s timeless and striking design is destined to become a classic.
The away jersey upstages the home kit with the graphic on the jersey that takes its dynamic inspiration from the art-deco style logo that welcomed football's finest to Spain in 1982.
Equally striking, the historic red of Spain away days jersey will leave a lasting impression both on and off the pitch.
