Fact is, when you exercise outside, you tend so spend more time doing it. Recent research from UC San Diego showed that those who exercised outdoors did at least 30 minutes more moderate-to-vigorous exercise per week than those who exercised only inside, and they felt healthier as a result. Guess there's something to all that fresh air, after all.
Plus, the great thing about exercising outside is that it's not only convenient, but it's much less expensive than a gym membership. It's a win, win.
Planning your fitness revolution
The new season holds a host of new possibilities for your fitness journey. As the weather changes, your workouts and sports activities can change, too.
Instead of just jumping right back into where you left off last summer, it's better to follow a gradual step-by-step approach to regain your fitness. Be sure to take baby steps, because even small, incremental changes can lead to big things.
For example, say you've set a goal of running 20 kilometres a week (you're keen!), work up to it over the course of a few weeks, starting with light runs or even a brisk walk to get your heart going again.
