Great whistle! It's loud, and with enough force can be heard for a good 500m. For beginner umpires however, I would recommend starting with a smaller whistle; this one require so much breath per millisecond, combined with how fast you've been running, it can come out as a wheeze. Strong lungs required.

Must have umpire whistle

I have a thunderer that is over 15 yrs old and still works fine. Love it. This one I purchased for my son and is even better with the rubber cover makes it easy on the mouth and should get at least 10 to 15 yrs use also.
